Baojun, the Chinese brand has been spotted testing their small electric car
– E100 on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The car on test was a left hand drive
version and could imply that the company is testing whether the car is good
enough for Indian roads or not.
Baojun E100 is built on a short wheelbase measuring 1,600mm while overall
height was at 1,670mm. It sported short overhangs and wrap around tail
Built by SAIC-GM-Wuling in China, the Baojum E100 receives interior features
among which are a 7” touchscreen infotainment system with Wi-Fi
compatibility, electric power steering and keyless entry. It also comes in
with a host of safety features such as ABS with EBD, electronic parking
brake, pedestrian alert system, parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat
Baojun E100 gets a single electric engine with a lithium ion battery pack
offering 39 bhp power and 110 Nm torque. This engine allows for a top speed
of 100 kmph and a maximum range of 155 km. The battery can be charged in 7.5
hours. The compact 2 seater EV has a turning radius of just 3.7 meters,
making it a convenient vehicle to manage in tight spaces.
MG Motors India is also planning to introduce the first product in India.
This will be in the form of Baojun 530 based SUV, which is slated for launch
in the country sometime in 2019.
More cars are also planned and MG Motor India will be importing these
