DOE receives eight units of Mitsubishi's electric and plug-in hybrids

Mitsubishi Motors has announced their pledge to tackle air pollution in the
Philippines to the Department of Energy (DOE). Through its local arm,
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), the Japanese automaker has
turned over four electric and four plug-in hybrid cars to the government
agency. These eight cars came from the Japanese government.

The cars turned over were the i-Miev and the Outlander PHEV. The i-Miev is a
fully electric vehicle while the this variant of Outlander is a plug-in
hybrid model. Besides the cars, also turned over were three quick EV charger
units. The fast chargers have already been installed in three key government
offices. These are installed in the Department of Energy, Department of
Science and Technology and the Office of the President.

“As a leading EV and PHEV manufacturer, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC),
together with Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is eager to
work with the Philippine Government and the Department of Energy to reduce
environmental pollution in the Philippines,” said Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, MMPC
President and CEO.

The vehicles and quick EV chargers are part of an agreement between Japan
International Cooperation System (JICS) and Sojitz Corporation. The turnover
of the cars and chargers are part of the Grant Aid program which sees the
introduction of a special program with Japan. Dubbed the Japanese Advanced
Products and Its System (Next Generation Vehicle Package) it aims to
contribute to the reduction of environmental pollution in the Philippines
caused by greenhouse gas emission.
