Pre-Charge On and Off

wjdennis@qwest.net
Does anyone have their precharge hooked up to the potbox's NC connector,
and the main contactor hooked up to the NO connector?  Would there be any
problem hooking things up that way, so that one or the other was on at the
same time, but not both?  When you initially turn on the key, the potbox's
common would receive 12V, and thus the pre-charge relay close.  When you
stepped on the pedal, the main contactor would close and the pre-charge
relay would turn off.  Then when you released the pedal again, the main
contactor would cut out and the pre-charge relay would energize again,
keeping pack voltage on the controller caps.

Thanks.

Bill

Re: Pre-Charge On and Off

You could do that. There is no down side to leaving the precharge
relay on while the contactor is closed either. Since you are closing
the precharge with the key-on anyway.
